From 2007 to the present day, SNDC has revolutionised low-voltage electric air conditioning: innovation, robustness, made in France, record COP and Generation 2 already ready.
Once upon a time… the quest for electric comfort (2007).
It all began in SNDC’s Toulouse workshop. Forklift trucks and agricultural machinery were switching from hydraulic to electric power, and it was impossible to fit a compressor driven by an internal combustion engine.
Mission: to create a 100% electric, low-voltage, compact, silent and ultra-efficient air conditioner.
The SKIMO project was born.
The months that followed were like a marathon of trial and error. The motor, heat exchanger and compressor had to be fitted into an enclosure smaller than a cabin suitcase, while aiming for a COP of over 3.5. The development of a new all-electric line would prove to be a challenge, given the many issues involved:
Prototypes come and go, days go by. One morning in June, the climate chamber delivered its verdict: at 31°C outside, the SKIMO 24 V version delivered 2.9 kW of cooling for just 0.8 kW consumed. The workshop exploded with joy; the gamble had not only been taken, it had been surpassed.
Technical prowess is not enough; the system must also be protected under the worst conditions.
The SKIMO range quickly expanded to include :
On the hot quays of Cadiz and Algeciras, the entire port fleet is equipped with SKIMO air conditioners: 55°C in the shade, the cabin stays cool. A trust that is renewed every year, a symbol of the robustness and efficiency of our solution. SKIMO’s reputation is spreading to vineyards, building sites and airport runways.
Behind the scenes, a new prototype has been maturing since 2018…
In 2022, the first SKIMO G² rolled off the production line. The following year saw the launch of the PAC version. By 2024, the SKIMO G² SPLIT was already targeting vehicles powered at up to 750 V. The story is accelerating.
From the steep vineyards of the Occitanie region to international freight terminals, SKIMO can be installed in five easy steps: install, connect, fix and start. It slips into the tightest compartments and continues to provide constant comfort, even when the mercury approaches 55°C.
SKIMO has been pushing back the boundaries of low-voltage electric air conditioning since 2007. In Labarthe-sur-Lèze, near Toulouse, each SKIMO is born, grows and sets out to conquer the world, closely monitored by the in-house after-sales service.
